There will only be 4 of us for Thanksgiving this year, so cooking a big turkey is out. Does anyone know of decent restaurants in the area that are serving traditional Thanksgivingesque meals?
Thanks in advance.

I am not sure where you live, but here are some suggestions in Sarasota. This was from last year, but I am sure the same restaurants are offering Thanksgiving dinner again. I would call first and make reservations once you decide on a place.

I think we're going to Harry's on Longboat Key. They're on the list that TamRE posted. You should try to make reservations ASAP. When I called around last week many places were totally booked.

Mrs S is working and the Hospice is arranging a Thanksgiving dinner and also inviting spouses. I have a feeling it will be very humbling sharing your special day with people who will never see another.

Thanks TamRE and SoFLGal. Going to call around, and hopefully, places still have seating.
M&Msunshine...I'm sure the experience will be full of the real meaning of thanksgiving.

The Sarasota Herald Tribune has a 2011 blog started on Thanksgiving dining options: Thanksgiving dining-out list grows – Explore Your Sarasota - Sarasota Herald-Tribune - Sarasota, FL - Archive (http://exploreyoursarasota.blogs.heraldtribune.com/12487/dining-out-on-thanksgiving/?pa=all&tc=pgall - broken link)

The list mentions the Cracker Barrel in Venice but not the one in Bradenton, off of I75.

Also in Bradenton, Pier 22 on the Manatee River will be open on Thanksgiving and serving traditional dinners. You get the added bonus of the riverfront views.

Another option for those not wanting to cook but hate to dine out on Thanksgiving - both Publix and Bob Evans restaurant will precook your dinner, bird and side dishes, that you pick up to reheat and serve.

We're doing something different this year. Since my husband and my families are both scattered all over the country this Thanksgiving, we're having a Thanksgiving dinner at our home and inviting several neighbors without families in the area to join us. It's a win-win. We have the big traditional gathering for Thanksgiving and our neighbors don't have to eat at home alone on Thanksgiving Day.

River Strand Golf and Country Club has a nice Thanksgiving Buffet at the Clubhouse from 11a-3p. Reservations are required but it is open to the public. We went last year and the food was excellent, plus the setting is a bit more sophisticated than the average restaurant.
