I live close enough to say I live in that neighborhood. We have lived here for 35 years. For the most part it's a working class neighborhood of decent people. Some streets are nicely kept while some others just are barely kept up.The city does have code enforcement to stop really bad behavior. The nearest elementary schools are Tuttle and Alta Vista. High School should be Sarasota.
To me crime is relative and can happen anywhere. It's in the City of Sarasota and convenient to just about everything you could want or need.

So then i do that and it only leaves my with a little piece of the city that people say are safe. lol i just dont get it.....Its making me think twice now about moving to Sarasota with my daughter. Im a single father and im not rich so i cant live right on the beach....So can you guys tell me IS SARASOTA REALLY THAT MUCH OF A DANGEROUS PLACE TO LIVE . Ive lived in Tampa and Orlando most of my life and i felt safe there...I JUST DONT GET IT PLEASE HELP ME
It's interesting that gun crimes in Tampa, Orlando, and Ft. Myers are more severe (higher percentage of lethalness) than Sarasota's gun crimes.

In Sarasota most bank robberies involve flashing a gun without killing,
whereas in the other towns there's more lethalness.

Just bank online and you'll be A-OK

I actually think the OP is serious based on constant posts from a couple of posters here who keep posting "crime statistics". I think some people are afraid to leave their houses.

But to agree with everyone else - yeah, Sarasota is very safe, certainly safer than St. Pete, Tampa or Orlando, so if one felt safe in those cities one will feel like Sarasota is Mayberry! LOL! Heck, I am even known to ride top-down in my convertible near the hood! (not at night, though, hehe)

Now you're talking! Three (3) of the four (4) cars we own are "topless" and I drive with the tops down unless it's pouring rain (sprinkles I'm okay with) or below 50*. That's been my driving preference for the past thirty-nine (39!) years.
