Was at Spanish Pointe the other night for happy hour and got eaten alive by something. Doesn't look like mosquito bites.

Any idea?

yeah, probably "no see-ums".... They are smaller than a flea and usually can be found near the water flying around (a stiff wind will keep them away as well as products like "skin so soft" or bug sprays).

Absolutely "no see ums"- they are AWFUL right now. They seem to be the worst in the early evenings. I sat at the ballfield the other night. Didn't have 1 bite for over an hour & as soon as the sun started to set, I was swarmed. Their bites are way worse than mosquitos & itch like hell. It takes at least 2 weeks for the bites to fade on my legs- ugh!
I even had them biting me with bug spray on. Nasty little things!

Could be sand flea or chigger. OFF has a new product- Deep Woods DRY. No oil, not greasy. Repels mosquitos, ticks, biting flies, gnats, chiggers. Contains 25% DEET. It really works.

My poor dog has them all over her feet & legs! The dog park is all sandy, so I was thinknig sand fleas.
She has no hair, so I can see every bite - and there's no hair "buffer" between her & the bugs.

And they got me too - I was a fool to wear sandals.
They itch - bothering me - but the pooch seems to not be bothered by them.

I just got back from Siesta Key and I am still itching!! We were there for the week and I have fourteen bites on one leg and so many on my ankles, arms, and they don't go away!

We spent a good portion of time at the beach but my sister and I found new bites in the morning when we woke up so I am not sure if we brought some of the creatures back with us or what?

At any rate I wouldn't trade the amazing time we had last week for anything. Love Sarasota in October....the weather was outstanding and our reunion was a blast. So sorry to be back in Chicago where we came home to tornado sirens, 45mph winds, 51 degrees and driving rain. YUCK!

I've been bitten by no see-ums too. And the funny part is (well, there's nothing fun about those bites) they apparently love me, where mosquitoes would much rather feast on mr.cool. But I got the no see-ums bites and he did not. The itch is AWFUL, it woke me up at night.

My hubby gets bit as soon as he walks out the door. They don't seem to like me. I guess I'm not sweet enough!
