Anyone here like to fish?

Brand new to the area, and wondering if anyone can give me any guidance as to where I might fish from the shore until I'm able to procure a kayak.

We're just a few minutes from Anna Maria - I hear that beach snook are getting hot, but I don't know where to look.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Rod and Reel Pier on the northeast side of Anna Maria Island.

The City Pier on South Bay Boulevard stretches some 700 plus feet into southern Tampa Bay and is located just a short drive south of the Rod and Reel Pier.

Longboat Pass Bridge - South end of Anna Maria Island. This is the bridge that connects Bradenton Beach to the north end of Longboat Key.

You can fish the beaches. Snook will cruise along the beaches at this time of year especially near the passes. You can catch them by casting parallel to the beach very close to the beach itself. You know how there's often a trough just a few feet into the water? That's where you work. You can sight fish for them in the early morning hours and use either a white clouser or any bait that resembles white bait. Even a white buck tail *** will work.

I love how the 3 letter lure-type that follows the words "buck tail" was snagged by the censors. Thanks!

I have a new 10 ft 8wt Orvis Access fly rod and some Puglisi Pinfish Flies that I can wait to try for beach snook. Fish Stories to follow!

LOL...I have no idea why they would censor "***". I have never heard or seen the word in any context other than fishing. Now, I understand there are people who don't care for fishing but geez!

I planned to hit the beach yesterday with my 8wt but the wind was ridiculous.

My husband fishes all the time at the Nokomis jetty. Just head to the very southern tip of Casey Key. Lots of people fishing there.

I'll try that - I've read about fly fishing for snook on Casey Key, but I worried that Oprah's guard dogs would tear me to shreds. I'll have to check it out - THANKS!
