I'm in the process of putting in a pool and looking into the self cleaning in-floor valets. I'm curious what people think about them, are they worth the $2000 - 2500 price tag?

well, my pool guy comes twice a month, cleans the pool and filter, tests the water and adds chemicals as needed for $45/mo. It'd take a lot of months of his work to make up 2k.

We have never had to vacuum our pool, we brush it once in a while and that's it. The storm today deposited quite a bit of debri in it this afternoon right through the screens but we will just brush it into the bottom drain and clean the filter.

They aren't worth the money. A pool company looked at one for a buyer of mine and they stop working or break down too often. He doesn't recommend them even when people ask for them.

I've heard the exact same thing.

Default Pool cleaner

I made the mistake of having it installed when building our pool and after about 2 months I just shut it off all it does is blow the crud around the bottom and you still need to vacumn the pool at least twice a month I simply went with a tiger shark drop it in the pool and go on with my business it stops after 4 hours and you take out the filter and wash it off and put the unit away for another 2 weeks

As OP stated we have the tiger shark. Does a great job...drop it in and you're good to go.

This is a little off topic but can anyone give me a rough idea of the general cost to build a pool, pavers and cage on a property.

$30 - $40k, depending on what you select as options.

I'd add that this is typically a base price. Pools can easily range up to $60K or more. Spas are typically another $10K and heaters maybe $4K, if I remember right.
