Well, nothing in Siesta Village sits on the water although there are many great restaurants. If you want direct waterfront on Siesta, you have Turtles or Ophelias on the south end. My vote goes to Ophelias.

Ophelia's On The Bay

thanks PixiStix! Ophelia's isn't open for lunch...is Turtles at least decent, if not great? Otherwise, anyplace good in the village with outdoor seating? (Northerners THINK it's not too hot to sit outside to eat in June...HA!)

when my mom was here visiting 2 weeks ago we considered eating in SKV but drove by the places and nothing appealed to us. She wanted "beachy" so we drove down to Sharkey's in Venice. It wasn't crowded, we had grouper sandwiches and everyone was happy. Did the same at Old Salty Dog by Mote a few days later. It has a view & I had a gift card

Last week a friend from NY was here visiting and we went to SKV but at night. THAT was fun We had a great time at the back bar of Siesta Key Oyster Bar and when that closed we hung out at Gilligans or Daqueri Deck? I know we started out at Daqueri Deck but 3 Bachelorette parties later and we FLED lol The whole thing closed down by 2 though

Oops, sorry, guess I typed too quickly. I was thinking brunch with Ophelia's but forgot it was only Sunday. Turtles is OK. Nice water on the patio. It's older & the decor is wicker, cheesy pink & seafoam green 80's-ish. Food is not bad though (but there is better).

Most everything in the village has outdoor seating, hey it's Florida! lol

The Cottage & SKOB are my very favorite places in the village but there are many other good ones too. The Hub is also one my fav's. They usually have live music & the best margaritas!

If you have only 1 day in Siesta, I would suggest you lunch in the village. It will be a fun experience for you "newbies"

We went to Turtles for lunch once and our whole party hated it. I ordered a lobster roll and the lobster was frozen and tasted like it. I can't imagine why a restaurant in this area needs to serve obviously frozen seafood.

Yeah, don't go out of your way to go to Turtles. That's more of a spur of the moment "I could use a beer" sort of place.

Truth be told, if you want outdoor lunching, Siesta isn't your best bet, especially if you want water. I like the courtyard at the Cottage (no view or anything, just great food, and technically "outside"), but aside from that, it's all bad burgers and the faint smell of last night's beer on the decks that line Ocean Blvd. Meh.

Ophelia's is only good for brunch, really.

Just my two cents.

Oh come on Rushmore, I love ya but that's a little harsh isn't it?! I realize your palate is a bit more picky than a lot of people's though.

I'm heading over to the village for a crappy lunch today. I'll probably enjoy it too!

I hope you do enjoy it.

I guess it was harsh. My point was simply that it would be nice to have a few options that didn't involve the song Margaritaville.

Sorry. There is definitely a time for the crappy burger option.

No worries

Have you tried the Sun Garden yet? It's crappy burger free, I promise!
