Is North port a good place? family oriented ? or is it like Naples ? where reach people dont really want to see kids or family reunions etc?
I lived in Naples for 10 yrs! I know! I know live in Denver and want to go back FL. Any suggestions?
Cape Coral ? North Port? I am looking for a good rental but most of all a GREAT school area for my 9 yr old daughter.

I appreciate your suggestions.

I'm leaving Cape Coral because of all of the crime now. We were thinking about Sarasota, but then decided on maybe Venice or Englewood. Will get us close to Sarasota without the crime. Whatever you do, stay away from Bradenton. Way too many gangs, unfortunately.

I own a home in North Port. I would recommend looking in the Cranberry Elementary School zone. The average age in North Port is 36. North Port has a skate/bike park, many community parks, lots of sports leagues, etc. The rentals in the area are still fairly reasonable but the prices are going up, like the local housing prices.

Nope. Mexican and Spanish gangs. There is a very good gang taskforce there, but unfortunately, they are there because of the gangs.

Latinos seem to be doing very well in starting up businesses in Bradenton/Sarasota...Probably some people find that threatening...

We moved from ct in April, rented an apt for a few months in Vista at Palma sola on 75th by Cortez while our house was being built in Parrish. For an apt complex it was nice and we never saw any crime, gang activity etc in the 5 months we were there. Downtown Bradenton could be a little rough but out west it is fine.

North Port has a lot of younger families and things for kids to do. They also have good schools. They have a local library, parks, playgrounds, sports, George Mullen Activity Center, Boys and Girls Club. Close by in Port Charlotte are dance, gymnastics, taekwondo, etc.

Here are some web links for the City of North Port.

We rented in North Port for a year before moving to Nokomis - I highly recommend Cranberry Elementary School - lots of nice homes in that area - I felt very safe there - its like country - lots of kids - moved to Nokomis and like it here also - I find Venice and Nokomis mostly safe - Sarasota is a little too crowded for me. Englewood seems like it has a older populations but is nice also. I recommend you stay in Sarasota County school system - North Port is in it.
