If you're headed to downtown Sarasota this weekend be prepared for some serious partying as motorcycles take over the streets for Thunder By The Bay. More than 15,000 bikes are expected to participate and up to 40,000 spectators in this very popular annual event. The event raises money each year for the Suncoast Charities for Children.
The weekend events kick off Friday night with a Food Truck Round Up at the Sarasota Fairgrounds from 5 - 10 pm. $5 donation at the gate. Live music.
Friday night is also the "Born to be Wild" party at the ballroom of Louie's Modern on N. Palm Ave. Tickets are $100/person & must be purchased in advance.
Saturday & Sunday are both street festivals, with lots of food and beverage vendors and live bands playing at several locations. Bikers display their prized machines in and along the streets. Lots of fun, sort of a PG version of bike week at Daytona.
Sunday is the big bike show with 16 classes of motorcycles.
