Hi Everyone,
Time for the list of fun things to do this weekend in the Bradenton - Sarasota - Venice area, including one of my favorite events of the summer, the Sarasota Power Boat Grand Prix.
The downtown bayfront parks get taken over by the large super boats, runs June 27th thru July 5th.
Events include:
Sat 6/27 -- golf tournaments
Sun 6/28 -- classic car show, fun run, motorcycle run
Tues 6/30 -- kick off party, also Grand Prix Festival Nautical Night of Giving - at the Sarasota Yacht Club. Music, open bar, food. Cocktail attire required. 5 - 10 pm, $100/person.
Wed 7/01 -- special events for challenged kids, by invitation only
Thurs 7/02 -- Fan Fest at Flemings (always a fun time)
Fri 7/03 -- Meet the Drivers/Hyatt, Powerboats by the Bay, Parade of Boats followed by big block party downtown, Hooters Swimsuit Contest
Sat 7/04 -- Powerboats by the Bay, boats & jet ski qualifications, fireworks at the bayfront
Sun 7/05 -- boat races, jet ski races, award ceremonies

Live From Downtown Sarasota It's Friday Night -- live entertainment by local performers, free admission. This week's event is in the Rosemary District, 6 - 9 pm.
Friday Free Music -- Venice's Centennial Park by the gazebo, starts at 7 pm, bring lawn chairs for seating.

Free Mango Tasting Event at the Venice Farmers Market on Tampa Ave in downtown Venice, 8 am - noon.

Baseball: Bradenton vs Palm Beach at McKechnie Field in Bradenton, game starts at 6:30 pm.

Coquina Beach Market -- shop fresh produce, arts & crafts and more by the beach, 10 am - 4 pm, south end of Anna Maria Island.

Baseball: Bradenton vs Palm Beach at McKechnie Field in Bradenton, game starts at 1 pm.
Siesta Key Drum Circle -- every Sunday evening just before sunset on Siesta Key beach.
Also worth mentioning: June is National Adopt a Shelter Cat Month. The Sarasota Humane Society is offering special adoption rates on senior cats (7 year & older) and cats that have been at the shelter 90+ days. Shelter is at 2331 15th St in Sarasota, info at

All those northerners looking for a place to relocate in Florida should take note at just how much goes on in the Sarasota area,We'll presume the place is safe and has the best of schools, lots of jobs and of course beaches..
