And feeling so grateful that we were as lucky as we were last year
I know there were some areas around us that had more problems and quite a few people in our neighborhood were w/o power for a week or so but it could have been so much worse...
It WAS worse in many areas of Florida...

I hope by saying that "thank you" I am not asking for trouble...
And I hope that FEMA and the local/state agencies have their acts together
I saw several stories of people who stayed and were trapped in their homes
And also pets that were abandoned
The pets made me sad
The adults made me mad...for several reasons...

Yes, I too feel grateful that we were as lucky as we were last year. Even though we live two blocks from the bay, there was no surge or flooding, and we had no damage in our yard other than a few tree limbs. Power was out for a week but we got by. I really feel sorry for all in Florence wake..... many will have weeks or even months of misery.

Yes, I feel angry toward some of the adults who made stupid decisions.....and so sorry for the animals.

One of the reasons that many people don't evacuate is because the 'authorities' don't let them back when the emergency has passed.

Not wanting to evacuate because you might not be allowed back right away? How much does one value their life and the lives of their families? These idiots are also placing the lives of the rescuers at risk. I have no sympathy for those adults who lacked the common sense to leave.
