For those following the live camera coverage of a pair of ospreys (Sara & Sota) and their 2 eggs, one of the eggs hatched today!

And #2 hatched around 11pm last night (March 18). That's awesome.

Guess it's been 3 years since they've had eggs, and the last time they had two, only one hatched. So exciting to see them both hatch this year!

That's wonderful news. I watched a few times, but admiringly got bored. Glad they finally hatched and hopefully return and multiply!

Sad news to report, the 2 baby ospreys were found dead in their nest this morning. No news yet as to what happened.

Very sad news. For those who enjoyed it, you can see a very similar setup with this bald eagle cam, also somewhere in SW Florida. Two young chicks as well, just hatched in the past week. Fingers crossed!

The bald eagle family is in/near Naples. Harriet & M15 are the parent birds and their newly hatched eaglets are E15 & E16.
There normal brooding time in that area is December and back before Christmas Harriet laid 2 eggs. One hatched and the other did not. We watched E14 go from ball of grey-white fuzz to beginning to get its feathers. At about 1 month old E14 began to suddenly hemorrhage and died (all on cam). Someone from one of the FL Fish & Wildlife of Raptor centers came and climbed up into the tree & retrieved both the dead eaglet & the unhatched egg. Necropsy on E14 showed it bled to death from one of the new pin feathers. The cause believed to be the eaglet was probably fed mouse by one of its parents, from the nearby barn, which was most likely dosed with warfarrin type rat/mouse poison. We were all crushed at this news.
News per the eaglecam folks say that having another brood after that time of year is quite rare but in Feb Harriet & M15 again began to build up their nest. We were pleasantly surprised when Harriet laid 2 more eggs. This time BOTH eaglets hatched just this past week! It is joy beyond needed joy in this time of tragedy with COVID-19. I have watched several eaglets hatched and raised til time to fly off on their own. They are quite comical and for small kids it's a great learning lesson in the Circle of Life, and also what can happen when we put poison out for one species and how it may effect others. There are 4 cam angles you can watch from. It's never dull or boring. Nearby owls often try to attack the nest. Stop by and enjoy some free entertainment that will take your mind off CoronaVirus or wharever ails you.

WARNING: this site can become obsessive to viewers! I'm a bird enthusiast, and I spent hours watching this web site last year. The nest is just North of Fort Myers off an exit off I-75 just before you cross over the River.
