As with online dating, don't believe everything you read online...our own people in the Bradenton/Sarasota area are homeless, jobless and hungry

Bradenton is about to cut 400 teaching jobs, apples aren't helping.

My ex-girlfriend had someone to come over to her house and cut her hair. Because there were a lot of times she didn't feel up to leaving the house.

I've no doubt something like that would go over in a town full of retirees that really don't get around much.

As for the county jobs link provided....Sarasota County is still laying off people. Their budget cutting has not ended. If they are to fill any jobs, it will be with people who were recently laid off from the county. With the passing of the amendment for slow growth, look to additional layoffs.

I'm sorry Oobie119, but you seem to be encouraging someone to make a move, when you in fact have stated that you are discouraged by the economy here, have no money, are stuck living in a dump.

I don't get it.
have you ever lived in ct?

The economy here is only slightly worse than what it was when I moved. Granted, the job market is a bit worse. My sister and her husband moved her jobless 6 months ago without jobs and BOTH found decent government jobs. Im not encouraging her so much as Im simply stating the facts. It can be done. Before we moved we heard it from all directions, don't do it, you won't make it, you'll end up coming back. Guess what, were here, happy and doing well, as is my sister's family. Sometimes I feel like those that are being discouraging or critical are a bit envious because they have ties that keep them in an area where they are unhappy. Either that or they are too afraid of failure. There are always going to be people that want you to fail, sometimes you just have to do what you want. If you want something bad enough, you have to fight for it. HdZup has made it really clear that she is aware of the risks and that it's going to be tough..

I never said I was discouraged with the economy, the economy is the same everywhere. I also never said I had no money. We live paycheck to paycheck as many people do and I would like to have MORE money to be a bit more comfortable... who wouldn't? As far as living in a dump, yep. It was nice when we moved in, and quickly went down hill. I don't have 2K to pay to break my lease, so for the time being, I live in a dump, that part is right. We aren't any better or worse off than if we had stayed in Chicago in cold, dank, dreary weather. In fact, we both hated our jobs at home, and we now love them. Please don't assume you know all the facts because of my previous posts. Hdzup is going to make her own decision, no one is going to stop her from achieving what she feels is best, whether it's staying or going. All we need to do is answer her questions and provide her with facts.

Please don't assume that you are consistant in your previous posts. People can't make heads or tails out of what you are posting, because you seem confused.

You have posted that you are miserable and that you and your husband fight constantly over money. You also stated you have had a nervous breakdown.

Perhaps words of encouragement for the OP to make such a big move should be left to people who have less "confusion", and are able to see what clearly what advantages and disadvantages there are to moving to this area.

Are you sure you aren't working on a Psych paper? LOL....

Every 3rd person in Bradenton had their real estate license and/or hair license. Mobile businesses must now jack their prices due to the high cost of gas. You won't make a killling setting pin curls at Gladys house in Bradenton.
