Hi Everyone,

Although a number of events have been canceled or postponed because of Covid-19, we do still have events going on for those who wish to get out and participate.

Please keep in mind that as of writing this post, all of the following events are expected to take place as planned. However, since we are still dealing with the Covid virus, event schedules are subject to change with little notice.

Here's a list of fun things I've found that are going on in the Sarasota - Bradenton - Venice area this weekend:



FRIDAY

Music in the Parking Lot -- Manatee County Performing Arts Center, 6 - 8 pm, tickets required.

Free Music Friday Night Concert -- Venice's Centennial Park, 7 - 9 pm, bring lawn chairs, registration required.



FRIDAY - SUNDAY

Art in the Park -- Exhibition & Sale, 10 am - 5 pm, University Park Country Club, 7671 The Park Blvd, free admission.

Sarasota Bradenton Home Show -- everything for inside and outside your home. Fri & Sat 10 am - 7 pm, Sun 10 am - 6 pm. Free passes available online, free parking. Robarts Arena, Sarasota County Fairgrounds.




SATURDAY

Sarasota Farmers Market -- downtown at Lemon & Main, 7 am - 1 pm.

Central Sarasota Farmers Market -- corner Proctor & Beneva, 8 am - 1 pm.

Bradenton Farmers Market -- on Old Main Street (400 12th St W), 9 am - 2 pm. Veggies, organics, fresh eggs, seafood and more.

Venice Farmers Market -- at the City Hall, 401 W Venice Ave, 8 am - 1 pm.

Lakewood Ranch Farmers Market -- LWR Medical Center parking lot, 10 am - 2 pm.




SATURDAY & SUNDAY

Sarasota Spring Craft Show -- at JD Hamel Park in downtown Sarasota, 10 am - 5 pm.

St. Armand's Circle Art Festival -- artisans from all over the US exhibiting & selling their works, 10 am - 5 pm.




SUNDAY

Polo at Lakewood Ranch -- Sarasota Polo grounds in Lakewood Ranch, gates open 10 am, matches start 1 pm. $15/adult, children ages 15 & under get in free.

The Ski-A-Rees Water Ski Show -- 2 pm, 1602 Ken Thompson Pkwy, Sarasota.

Movies on Siesta Key -- free movie at Beach Access 3, starts at 7:30 pm.

April 13 - 18 Sun N Fun Fly In -- air show, displays, Blue Angels, fireworks, etc.

A loss in the family this week was a reminder for me that even though life has not been easy this past year, we need to take time to enjoy the people and things around us.

Sorry to hear about your loss Sunshine.

I took your advice, and got out to the SRQ Farmers Market, & the St. Armands Circle Art Show.

I came home with 3 bundles of Sunflowers for just $10, but no art this time.

Traffic was jam-packed downtown SRQ all day Saturday. I'd like to see the City Council plan these events better. Having 2 art/craft shows simultaneously was unwise.

They need shuttle busses to take people from Downtown over to St. Armands to minimize the crush of traffic. I suggest using the parking lot at Van Wezel for one shuttle site (next year when no vaxing is going on there), & the new Sarasota Art Museum (old Sarasota High School) parking lot as the other shuttle site. If City Busses are not available, use school busses. Payne Park is another site that could be used because the Ringling Parking garage is adjacent.
