This is precisely the reason to do DILIGENCE when purchasing
a home. Research police activity, neighborhood ..too many people are
jumping at homes, not knowing enough about the neighborhood etc.
Let’s face it, “buyer beware”, 99 percent of agents will not divulge
the “the real story” as to why house is up for sale.
Even the buyers agent won’t!

Somehow rest of post was left off!
Party in Lakewood Ranch River Club..
Beautiful house that is in foreclosure, lovely neighborhood,
had in excess 500 people at a party..
They were apparently parking cars illegally
In River Club Parking Lot, using a Limo
to shuttle them to the party..
Around 215 am shots fired..
Pathetic that Manatee County Sherriffs Office
Had to risk their life..bet 89 percent of these
Partygoers don’t live in Lakewood Ranch
Awful!

Soooo, somebody a couple years ago got a big lawsuit settlement, inheritance or whatnot and bought a fancy place. Maybe they had some other big one time success like a hit song etc.

After a few years they blew through the money and voila...foreclosure party!

Just my speculation based upon seeing this over and over in real life stories.

From local sources, the adult kids are living there
disturbing the neighborhood..
Big legal trouble for the owners who live out of town!
Social host liability, loser sons

Not related to this story - but I was reading a column about the closing of DeSoto Square Mall. The guy that brought the mall to Bradenton was a former owner of the San Francisco 49ers - and one of his acquaintances was a mob guy who was convicted of killing someone by placing a bomb under his car. This guy is now in his nineties and he lives in Lakewood Ranch.

@wondermint2..absolutely believe it.
Just like anywhere else in the country,
Nice communities have problems too..
It unfortunately isn’t paradise anywhere anymore.,
Gated communities are not immune from issues..
People think that just because they live in a gated community,
That it is free from crime..criminals “hang” by a gate
Just waiting for entrance

River Club is a golfing community located next door to Lakewood Ranch, it is not part of Lakewood Ranch. They have different deed restrictions, different management of their HOA and are not part of the LWR CDDs. The golf course is owned by a separate entity. River Club consists of 3 residential neighborhoods and is not gated.

The Bradenton newspaper has an article about the incident:
