I have to admit I dont know much about this area. A friend of mine purchased a home for 400k last summer in SouthGate. House is cute, 3 bed, 2 bath 1,100 sq ft, has a pool. They are renting it at $6500 a month. call me crazy but that seems like a lot. I noticed in the description it goes on to say: Available January, February and 3 weeks in March, 2022. So perhaps it's available during those 3 month? If it's $6500 a month then heck i need to buy a house in FL.

I have no idea if they managed to rent it out as the listing is showing as active.

It could potentially run that much for a furnished, seasonal rental, which generally runs January - March or sometimes April.

Unfurnished, annual rental would run less, although even annual rental rates are up substantially, starting in March of 2021 thru now. $3000/month for a smaller 3 bdrm rental house in that area is not uncommon.

Wow. I mean I'm in the Boston area which has very high COL and I never see a rental for that much. I think a summer rental on cape cod is like 3000 for the week which also seems nuts to me. It's like a little cottage for 3k a week, ok. My family has a house there that they don't rent out...but maybe they should.

We got a 3/2 house in Dennisport for $1500/wk for 3 weeks on Cape Cod Sept 7-28th after the kids return to school there. $4,600 grand total includes all taxes & cleaning. Not prime time, but we wanted to avoid the tourist crush, so we felt god about this price for this time frame. We wouldnt want to be there during Sumer peak when all the kids & families are there.

$6,500/mo for that Sarasota home sounds quite high tome but not impossible. Having a private pool adds a lot.

Just IMHO it sounds extremely high even furnished. I mean, maybe it is some sort of super luxury modern type of place? I don't know Southgate. The location isn't attractive to me either. But whatever. I can say that Jan - Mar people will pay crazy amounts to stay in Sarasota. We have a 2BR townhome style condo on the intercoastal right be Siesta Key and have no problem getting $3300 per month. It's not super updated. This year, when I put it up on Zillow it rented in 1 day so I probably under-charged. Who spends that money though? I wouldn't even though I could.
