I have a granddaughter moving to Sarasota. Looking for information on an affordable apartment/condo area that is near a safe, walkable area of restaurants, shopping, near a dog park of some sort, and in the vicinity of the Contemporary Dance Company. Can anyone suggest an area that we could begin looking within? Thanks!!

Debbie

You need to define "affordable."

She will need at least 1 roommate, perhaps 2.

Downtown Sarasota, but it’s not within budget.

You might look around in Palm Aire on University. Lovely area, I think there may be condos for rent, possible even in her price range. However, please understand that the rental market is very tight in Sarasota, and she may need to get a roommate to get a nice safe place.

Good luck!

Since you are asking about a dog park, should we assume that she has a dog? If so, that will limit her options.

Many landlords have a No Pet rule.

That area is nice, and safe, but not walkable, other than to the UTC Mall retail area. There are grocery stores there, but how would she get to work? I think her work is Downtown SRQ...no? Contemporary Dance is in the Rosemary District if I searched the right one.
