#SRQCounty Solid Waste Collection Update:

âž¡ Waste Management will resume regularly scheduled collection services for residential garbage and yard waste on Monday, Oct. 3. Recycling collection has been suspended until further notice.
âž¡ Regular garbage and yard waste should be placed away from large storm debris so that it is easily identifiable and accessible for collection.
âž¡ Please double bag spoiled food before placing in the garbage.
âž¡ Yard waste (small branches, leaves, moss, etc.) may be placed in containers, in bags or bundled and placed at the curb for pickup.
âž¡ Items that are bundled or in containers should not exceed 4 feet in length and items that are in bags, containers or bundles should not exceed 40 pounds. This applies to both garbage and yard waste.
âž¡ There will be an increase in the amount of trash and yard waste placed curbside over the upcoming weeks. All items placed curbside must be properly prepared.

They should really make an exception now and allow for larger items to be collected. SMH

It's not clear to me - maybe self evident to others - but as for the recyclable (paper, cardboard, bottles, cans) that would normally go in the blue bins, we now place both black and blue bins out at the curb and both bins will be emptied and taken away in the same truck that takes away the black trash? - and also double bag the stuff that would have normally been single bagged to go in the black bins.

The trucks just fill up faster if big items go in

FEMA is supposed to,hire contractors to help with large items, big tree waste
But that has to be organized
Took time after Irma

The recycle center was damaged
Can’t work like it did before
So it is all just trash now

Double bag all spoiled food to hopefully prevent attracting scavengers when it is sitting out and at dump and being opened and spread out
Nothing over 40 lbs so the men don’t get hernias from lifting unexpected heavy bags
