Affordable North Port is not as affodable as it used to be. Wellen Park is likely the reason.

There's a lot of spill over from Sarasota. As Sarasota becomes unaffordable and crowded people from there move to north port. Though the Russian community as Seattle becomes unlivable and closed during covid many of them came to north port.

Hahahaha. Look at all those high rises in the photo of “North Port”. Wonder where they shot that??

North Port is still the most affordable area in the county and it’s a boom and bust city since it’s inception. They may get some tax revenues from those in Wellen Park but those residents there would never admit they live in North Port.

There’s still an abundance of land there and it’s only 1/4 or it’s eventual projected population. If the city had a better structure for government they could make the place more attractive to those with “Wellen Park” budgets but the original plat map and lack of water and sewer infrastructure will continue to hamper their growth.

It seems they haven’t decided what they want to be, and until they do they will continue to frustrate both those that currently live there and want it to remain the same, and those that consider the area lacking what they expect when it’s now the largest city in the county.

Keep in mind, Northport IS Sarasota.
It's the largest city in Sarasota County, and one of the largest in the nation
