I would have thought the same...all those Pines downed. I had all Pines, no Oaks at all....maybe a small scrub Oak or Two, but nothing over 15 feet high.

I've been wanting to go to Linger Lodge since it re-opended, so I'll drive through BW to have a look see.

I used to be able to get to Linger Lodge through the back of BW...is that road still open to get back to the restaurant? I seem to recall they closed that off at some point.
I haven’t been back there in a long time but I also heard that they greatly improved the place. I kinda liked it when it was dumpy and quirky.

I don’t disagree about it being a dump and the location was also a dump but it was “a thing” for the local kids and their parents so it was ok. The first and second update/expansions were steps backward, in my view, only because there were larger crowds and higher prices without better food. As I said, I haven’t been there in a long time but I’ve heard that they’ve fundamentally changed the whole location (whatever that means).

That place has been awful since its opening decades ago, and few locals spent their money there. Mostly ignorant and gullible visitors, seasonals or old drunks with no sense of what good food represents. Simply nasty as nasty can be. Weird too.

We went once, a long long time ago because of a gathering of friends that went there. I agree, terrible food, weird vibe. It was not a place I cared to go back to.

I've been here for 9+ years. Seven is usually my limit, but two years were pandemic so they didn't count. So in 2022, I started getting antsy and considered moving back up North, back with family and friends. (Although I have made many friends here too.) So I spent three months up there, from October to January. The cold bothered me, as in, it's physically painful sometimes (FYI I'm old and arthritic). I got sick with a terrible cough and congestion and I couldn't get rid of it for a month. Lastly, the dry gas heat made my nose bloody, crusty and itchy -- I was ready to tear it off. After two days back in FL, it cleared up.

So, even though the summer/fall heat/humidity isn't particularly pleasant either, at least it doesn't make me sick and dry out my skin and nose! Being a snowbird is out, can't afford it nor can I handle it physically. Guess I'll be here for awhile.

That might have been then Omicron strain of Covid...mine lasted a month....down here...similar symtoms. The dry heat can be changed w/ most newer HVAC systems that have a humidity control function.

Stay well

I took multiple Covid tests up there, all negative.

About the dry heat, my friend was back home in Michigan while I was in PA. She came back and posted that her nose was bloody from the dry heat. Funny that we both had the same problem! Yes, definitely a humidifier of some sort would be needed.

Wow, sounds like a problem associated with age, not the environment. I would bet the majority of contributors here sounding off about most topics are well over 60 years of age - or much older and sort of retired, or just plain tired LOL or just unhealthy?

Maybe when I get above 70 I'll like this place. Though by then a one bedroom will be two million a month and my social security will be two thousand.
