What?

The "State" IS THE PEOPLE. THE STATE exists to SERVE its own people, not throngs of legal and illegals from "out of the State". The STATE here is The State of Florida, not The State of New Jersey, The State of New York, The State of California, the foreign nations of Mexico, Honduras, Cuba, Ukraine, Canada or Haiti. The Federal Government of the United States of America does not attend to the affairs, privileges, and responsibilities (including taxations) of each of the 50 Sovereign States. Those powers not explicitly enumerated by The US Constitution are reserved to each state. Then of course there is a thing called the Constitution of The State of Florida. Most of these idiots (legal and illegal) have chosen to live in other States with messed up and stupid laws and taxes - and instead of changing their OWN State laws to the betterment of their OWN natives and citizens, these same locusts move to other States and then seek to infect, transform, and duplicate their own mistakes, policy, culture, etc in their new field now full of fellow locusts in many formerly, well-run States and cities and towns. A prime example is Austin, Texas, others are Charlotte, Nashville TN, Orlando, FT. Myers, Sarasot-Bradenton, Naples, Asheville...and a much smaller but vivid example is Bentonville AR.

AGAIN, THE "STATE" isn't some kind of "profit center". Citizens are The State. The Citizens of Florida are at risk - infrastructure, schools, roads, water quality, air quality, Healthcare, Police/Fire, electrical grid, amenities, housing prices/over crowding etc.

So what you are saying is that if you aren't a native of Florida, you are a "locust infecting the area".

That is a real class act comment!!! I didn't know all locals are superior to transplants and part-timers.

"Class Act Comment" ? that's rich, it's opinion, not an attack on YOU. good Grief

"superior to transplants and part-timers" ?? well, NO, let's say very "different" - just like a Floridian from Bradenton or Tampa or Arcadia would be "different" trying to live in Manhattan or Long Island or San Francisco.

One would have to be blind and/or dumb not to see and experience the bifurcation (in attitude, tastes, culture, maybe language, politics and a host of other considerations).

It's boneheaded for people to move to say, Florida or Texas, or Alaska to think they don't have distinct cultures and histories - or worse yet to think that the invaders' culture etc is the dominant or desirable one, but that's what exists in some of these migratory people/patterns. On top of that, many are blindly arrogant in their own ignorance. LOL

Easy Shekkie you are going to give yourself a stroke. When I spoke of the State making money it is in regard to being able to fund itself for the very services you mentioned: water, police, etc.

You can't deny that the very policies of Florida has created this mess that you despise. No state income taxes draw people in from throughout the country

The "freedom" to do whatever a developer wants to do with little regulation or at least an overall plan on managing the growth has led to over development.

You continue to miss the cause of the problem
and instead blame newcomers.

Yeah! Everyone who knows ANYTHING knows the transplants and snowbirds are far superior to the locals, or anything Flori-DUH. Just ask them.

Still.trying to figure out this logic. Tourism boards (paid for by taxpayer dollars), chamber of commerces and developers spent millions on advertising trying to get those dreaded out of staters down to Florida to visit and buy houses down there. When they do exactly that the natives act like the newcomers invaded them.

Stop bombarding the other states with your advertising, stop selling your homes to out of state people, control your development smartly, and there wouldn't be an issue.

Sarasota must have changed a lot. We lived there in the late seventies in the then new Tippecanoe condos. Had a small town feel. I remember just across the street there was large orange grove. Probably long gone.

You just have no idea how bad it has gotten. I guarantee you, that you would not recognize much of anything there now.

The Visit Florida budget set to double under Gov. DeSantis.

https://thecapitolist.com/visit-flor...-state-budget/

You cant live in a state whose economy is based on tourists and then complain about said tourists.

The Visit Florida budget was cut dramatically during the covid years...Florida didn't want people coming here, we even contrained the major interstates leading into the state...but they came anyways; due to our covid laws.

So, Visit Florida's budget doubling, is really getting it back to where it was pre-covid...perhaps a bit more due to inflation.

I dont think Florida should advertise at all...huge waste of money imho. Just as many will come, even if we spent ZERO on advertising our great state.

I'm not made at those coming here to live or visit, but I am disappointed in loal politicians (past & present) that allow high density living w/o the roads, & healthcare to support it.

That is not the newcomers/visitors fault.
