You cant live in a state whose economy is based on tourists and then complain about said tourists.
TOURISTS visit, then go home. The over-crowding and taxing of the infrastructure at this magnitude is not due to the tourist economy now - it's quite, quite different. These locusts are not flying away back to their home states. I do agree completely that the State has advertised itself excessively to the locusts to move. Few citizens recognize the place now. It's bad - for whatever reason. This is not sustainable and even that should be agreed to by the "newer locusts" if they are being honest - but the problem is that they are not honest. They think it's of no consequence and a good thing, which is how they RUINED their own states' environment, economy, culture, schools, POLICING, laws, water, politics and QUALITY OF LIFE. It's BAD, period and becoming worse.

So I guess you have specific proof that the so-called "locusts" that came to Florida contributed to their own's states demise before they got here? LOL!!!!

How about you provide some substance with facts and real insight instead of your bull sh!+ opinions in hopes that everyone will leave?

Many tourists see what they like then decide to buy there.

We are absolutely bombarded by Visit Florida commercials here in RI. They have a different ad for each FL city / town / region and we get them all, non stop. They all follow the same script format: "What if you were here, in ____" and then a few lines about how "here" (in whatever town the ad is for) everything is aways perfect, and then the script ends with "you see, a Florida vacation will take you exactly where you need to be, which is of course, here." There are also commercials about how we need to "serve Florida" by sending money for hurricane recovery.

Here are examples of the constant tourism ads on TV here in Newport, RI:

Look, this is not some sort of competition. This venue is for opinions as well. This is not a think-tank charged with public policy making or planning. Moreover, no one is obligated or charged with providing you, et al, a bibliography, and references complete with footnotes. These are common sense, personal observations. You or others are not "grading papers" or conducting an academic exercise that must somehow pass muster by you or any other contributor here, or elsewhere. This venue is not charged with academic fact-finding. Perhaps you're just kidding, or perhaps a bit in too deep. Believe, post and contribute your own observations, hopefully without personal attacks and profanities. In my opinion only, that doesn't strengthen any statement.

The Planning and Zoning Commissions all over the country are made up of developers, builders and bankers. Look up their bio's where you live and you'll understand why everything is approved with little regard for others.

If they are getting tons of million + properties, they will end up with the revenue to beef up their infrastructure.

Somehow this thread is morphing into complaining about tourists. Tourists are NOT the problem here! People have always come to Florida for vacations and I as a native have zero issues with that. I am complaining about the overbuilding, especially of super luxury CONDOS, paving every square inch of downtown (and now the beaches!) and all without any thought whatsoever to infrastructure. In the meantime the North Trail is a travesty, and still looks like ghetto which has lasted for decades now. You would think with New College, Ringling College, USF and the Museum that there would be neat little shops and eateries all along this strip but there is virtually nothing. Just overgrown lots and seedy motels.

At the same time iconic restaurants are closing - two on the North Trail - one was Primo after 36 years it got to be too difficult and they sold. Now today I read that JoTo, after 40 years, too many difficulties in the restaurant business so they are closing. If even iconic restaurants can't make it, how will anyone else? Where are all the "beautiful people" going to eat? There is becoming less and less of anything here for the "average citizen." It's either homes for the uber wealthy or a nice two week getaway for those who want to visit. Sarasota has always been kind of like that, but today it has become really extreme and getting more so.

That's the point ^ no resident native is, or has ever complained about true tourists.
