My duaghter has never had a problem with bugs (roaches, spiders, ants) really since moving into her condo that could not be taken care of with just a spray or two of some insecticide, but she took vacation for about 9 days to visit friend of hers outside London a few weeks ago...
when she came back she found some small, black bugs in her cabinets and like on the bathroom floor...
she has tried to describe them to me--they are not roaches or ants--but more like very small beetles...
her mother in law who lives in north Mississippi saw some that she had accidently brought with her when she took her souviners from England to MS--
she said they are what she calls "concrete" bugs...
why she calls them that I have no clue...except that they comeup through cracks in her concrete patio I guess or from the house slab--not termites or roaches...

sorry I can't post a picture---
does anyone else have experience with what I have tried to describe and do you have what you think is effective treatments to get rid of them

my daughter does not use pest service and does not really like the idea of fumigating to get rid of what are basically harmless (they don't have a poison bite like some spiders) bugs and they are not there because she has an unclean house either...but she also does not like having them in the cabinets or on floors since that makes it SEEM like she has unclean condo...

They might be flour weevils - these little critters hatch out of unused flour and cornmeal and the like - they burrow out of the bags. I have had them before. Maybe check the cupboards for old flour products? Never heard of "concrete bugs."

I have also had on occasion tiny dark "beetle" type bugs that I usually call "water bugs" because they come up out of the drains. I haven't had them where I live now, and I am referring to TINY bugs, not the big roaches. I believe both of these bugs are harmless.

thanks gypsychic but my daughter grew up in TX--we know about flour weevils here and she says it is a bug she has never really seen before...

maybe more like your water bugs--although that is not what we call water bugs here in TX...

Could it be one of these. We have them in our drive way and they come through the cracks:

My youngest daughter picks them up and calls them creatures.

from her description I think the first one seems more likely candidate...

They might be silverfish. They are a pretty common insect. I usually find them in cracks where there is moisture present. They can do damage, so it is good to get rid of them when you find them. They are not as distructive as termites.
