I am looking for a place to rent for 4 nights in the sarasota area. I have been concentrating on the Siesta Key, Lido Key etc area as it seems like
all the places in Sarasota are on the bay, with no beach. Is that right or does Sarasota have miles of beach?

Am I crazy? I have looked at so many websites my eyes are numb. I am looking for 2 bedrooms...not crazy posh... just clean! I want to be able to walk right on to the beach...not blocks or miles from the beach! I want to pay less than$200 per night.

Anyone out there know something I don't? I have never been to the area so maybe I am dreaming!

let it go

You might want to try vrbo.com. I think 222muchcoffee just booked a place on Siesta Key. I think it's right on the beach but I can't recall the name of the place or the price.

google "Siesta Key condo" and "Turtle Beach condo".
I can't remember the name but there is one large condo there that rents out under a week. It has units bayside and beachside and is newer. When I looked at it a week ago (planning our getaway) it was definitely under $200, more like $150-$175. Yay off-season.

vrbo.com is not a good choice for under a weeks rental time.

look at a map and you will see that Longboat Key and Siesta Key are where the beaches are. They are considered part of Sarasota but Sarasota mainland is bayfront (no beaches). It confused us when we first vacationed there, getting a mental picture of where the beach was.

Lido Key has hotels but not 2 bedrooms unless you take 2 rooms adjoining.

Good luck.

Default Siesta Key Bayside/Gulfside beach condo

This is the one I am thinking of booking:
THE PALM BAY CLUB: A Siesta Key Resort Hotel located in Sarasota Florida - Official Hotel Website

click on "Specials" for $145/nite 2 BR/2BA (Bayside only). 3 nite minimum.
They also have others right on the beach for under $200 also. See the rate sheet.

Please tell us where you stayed and a review. Inquiring minds...

Thanks......I will try Palm Bay Club. I looked there, but didn't dig too deep into the specials. I did call and they have a $300 deposit that is not refundable if you have to cancel. I worry a bit about hurricanes that time of year. Anyway...thanks for the info. I will let you all know what I find out!
