Now that the rest of my family but my mother has fled Wisconsin, we're down to just the 3 of us for Thanksgiving. I cook, she brings wine, i's all good.

Here's a crazy idea, if you want home made why not make it at home?

Yum yum, Publix mashed potatoes from a box on Thanksgiving. What's for Christmas dinner, a McRib? Drive thru's are even quicker!

Agree, nothing hard about Tgiving dinner. Put a Turkey in a oven bag, boil potatoes, easy green bean casserole, rolls Voila Turkey Dinner. I have had Publix before it is pretty good.

Those flights and visits were tedious and $$$$

On Sept 20 2011 We moved home to Warwick, Rhode Island not far from beautiful Narragansett Bay.

I looked up the nearest Whole Foods they will be cooking our Thanksgiving Turkey Dinner. I am one happy Grammie this will be a memorable Thanksgiving and Our Favorite Holiday while we leave most of the large cooking to Whole Foods. While I play with my granddaughters that now live in the same neighborhood.

Happy Grammie!
Thats fantastic. Enjoy those grandkids and your Thanksgiving dinner. This will be our first Thanksgiving with family in the last ten years.

You forgot the fresh cranberry sauce! I agree that roasting a bird is one of the simplest things to prepare. Sides can be made a day ahead and then popped on the lower oven shelf to cook with the bird. I make the stuffing/dressing separate too. When I worked night shift as a nurse I could always count on pulling a double because people would call out sick to be home for the holiday. That was the only time when I ordered a pre-cooked meal.
