Hi, I have a job offer to move to Bradenton. I currently live in Treasure Island in Pinellas, and have lived in St.Pete my whole life. I know what the crime is like and assume Bradenton is probably close to that. I just don't want to move "into" the ghetto. I would like to see if anyone knows where I should look at apartments at. I prefer to be close to the beach, but it seems like I find mostly houses for sale, not apartments for rent in Bradenton Beach. I don't want to end up in a neighborhood like South St.Pete. My work would be off 22nd St. and 53rd Ave. That didn't look like the greatest place to live, possibly I'm wrong. And I'm open to a drive away from that area too. Is there any rental neighborhoods like St.Pete Beach or Treasure Island around there? Any infowould be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Anna Maria Island is full of condominium complexes. People do year round rentals. Check craigslist, although for AMI, you're more likely to find find a rental in the island paper. Built my home out there & raised my children there. It's a beautiful island, there is crime but nothing like in town. It's very small in reality & all the locals know each other. If you have the opportunity to live at the beach, I'd choose that over town; yearly rentals run hand in hand with rent prices off the island. You might need to spend a weekend on AMI & drive the three towns to get a feel for it. Check the "islander" on line.

I agree with this. If you are living on Treasure Island, you will like Anna Maria Island. I think you can find something to rent there, but it might be tough if you are looking now as we are entering "season." If not on the island, try to stay close to it, as in northwest Bradenton. I don't recommend living near your work. Bradenton is a lot like St. Pete - has lovely neighborhoods, but a lot of bad ones with a lot of crime. Stay out of the bad areas and you will be fine.

Good luck!

It is West, I'm sorry. This helps me a lot. We have the Beach Beacon here, sounds a lot like the Island Paper. The area by the office does look a little shady now that I have visited a bit. I just made it to the first island off of Bradenton going to AMI, so I haven't had the chance to see what else is out there. I'll stay west. Thank you all!

There are some nice condo communities off of 53rd over by the IMG tennis academy. It's a little further from the beach but you are more likely to find a vacancy. You might also try El Conquistador.
