OK, I really think ^^^ is a little bit overboard. I'm sure it will have some very negative, long lasting effects but to say "it may be the end of FL" is a bit extreme. Here's a local news article: Sarasota County declares emergency | HeraldTribune.com

Again, every news outlet puts their own spin on it.

Unhappy Horrible!

OMG! That's horrible. Unreal. Unbelievable. Also, think of what will happen to the beautiful gulf beaches.

OTOH.... nothing at all may happen.

I have never seen water run up hill, and against the current that flows from the rivers and other inland sources to the gulf, and the sea. So, obviously someone never heard of gravitational flow. This is the most obsurd, and unintelligent OP in a long time. Sorry to be so blunt. But in other words, "IT AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN!"

There are plenty of bad /damaging effects that this oil spill are going to cause, and it is going to take years, decades probably to clean-up, and recover (if that ever happens). And many businesses, families financies, and fishing operations may be ruined, and forced out of business as a result of this un-necessary accident.

It should cost BP a fortune. And, if anyone in that company cares now. They should have cared earlier. There were plenty of test, and back-ups that could have been tested, and carried out for several decades, so that the results of this could have been mitigated to a point where the loses and damage could have been stemmed. Those responsible should pay 100% of the costs involved for the clean-up, and the damages caused to all the businesses as well. The government has skimmed taxes for years as well, so they should be held accountable to the fullest extent as well. And those that hold office should have this issue raised in the next election, and be held accountable as well.

Watch the first video, "Florida's aquifers The Treasure Below". Is Florida drinking water supply threatened by BP Gulf oil spill? (Video) - Worldnews.com It explains intrusion into the aqufers by salt water and, in this case, salt water carrying oil. It's called horizontal salt water intrusion. You have to understand Florida's aquifer system before you go making incorrect statements.

tha video does not address having oil in sea water--because this spill had not occured when that video was made...
so it can't address the viscosity of the oil vs pulling it into the aquafer...

I haven't heard anything in conversations and the like about contamination of the aquifer by oil intrusion. Which is not to say down the road, like way way down the road, there may be some discussion regarding it. The most I've heard being talked about, outside the ongoing devastation to all gulf living organisms is the fear from officials about the toxic dispersants...Less Toxic Dispersants Lose Out in BP Oil Spill Cleanup - NYTimes.com. Last time these dispersants were used cleanup workers suffered blood in their urine, and kidney and liver disorders. Where are these dispersants heading? No one knows, because its all cloak and dagger when it comes to "their formula". Oil you can see...the dispersants you can't.
