I am planning on re-locating to Savannah next year after i save up several thousand at work.

I'm 19, single, and no kids.

I am a luthier, so i have that source of income and i plan to have quite a substantial amount of money as a fall back if i cant get an hourly job right away.

Anywhere in Chatham would be fine, but preferably somewhere where i dont have to worry about my tools being stolen. Cheap to moderate rent would be preferable too. Cheers nice to be here
-Mick

What's a luthier? If I were your age, I'd want to live downtown near the SCAD students.

A luthier is somebody who builds and repairs instruments. I have alot of power tools and would need a place to run them without disturbing too many of my neighbours.

What do you consider to be cheap rent?

anything 600 and under. Im assuming that like CT, it's more expensive the closer to the water. So i'd settle for something outside the city. just close would be nice. Worst case scenario, I have to get a roommate

With a roommate it might be possible. Problem is, the cheaper it is, the more iffy the neighborhood.

I'd look for a small rental house somewhere south of Derenne Ave. in an older, established neighborhood where the original residents haven't all died out. Print up a city map on Google, look at it, and then start asking us specific questions.

Also, North of Victory Drive/east of Skidaway. You should be able to find a 2 bedroom (use one for your workshop) 1 bath small house.

Your main problem is going to be finding a landlord that will rent to someone that is not legally an adult. Can you get a parent or older friend to co-sign a lease?

Do you need climate control to do your work on the instruments? It is something that may be harder to find in an older home.

Please be careful with your tools. I had $2000+ in musical equipment stolen from me in Aug. '09. Truck window was busted out. This happened on the southside (Chivas off 17). Now, every town has it's own problems and theft happens everywhere but if it's not tied down here it will be gone.
