So I rented a room from a drug user who lost his job over the drugs, continues to drink and use drugs and as such is unemployable. He's told me nothing but lies since day one. Now, he can't pay rent or utils. I expect an eviction notice on the door any day now. Even worse his druggie friends are now sleeping on our couch, stumbling around pissy drunk and going through my stuff.

I paid a full month's rent in advance, now there is no money to rent another room. Not that it matters much since I haven't been able to find anywhere suitable & affordable to live. Certainly not through Craigslist. So it's looking a lot like I'll be homeless soon, with no car to sleep in, and my question for local residents is; Where near the Savannah mall would you go to sleep in relative safety, undisturbed by cops, if you were homeless? I can't even imagine staying at a shelter, honestly the thought scares me more than the idea of sleeping on the streets or in the woods. I don't care to be around nasty junkies, thieves and the lot. I'm an honest guy, a decent person not a criminal or addict, I just made a very poor choice in roommates and have a low income. In other words I'm poor. PS: If anyone has a decent, safe, stable room to offer in exchange for yard work please PM me. I can provide my own food etc and maybe pay partial rent, and full rent beginning January or relocate if necessary. Thanks

GO HERE TOMORROW! Hold your head high, thank God for giving you courage and wisdom to ask for help and then DO IT! As soon as you are back on your feet and can help others, PAY IT FORWARD!!!

God bless you my friend! But by the sheer grace of God goes any of us ...

Do you have a job? If so, check with the boss. There may be a storage room that he will let you borrow for a short time.

You could give Lake Mayer a try. Try getting there after 10pm when the lights go out on the tennis and basketball courts and they close the gate. The gate is just a symbol, not an actual blockade. You can walk right around it or under it (it's like a ranch gate). It's mainly there just to prevent cars from parking on that side of the park after hours.

There's picnic tables there, a few restrooms, etc for you to get a chance to have some type of shelter.

Now as far as I understand, you're staying there under the renter's name who's renting under the landlord? You're not directly renting or paying the landlord, but paying the druggie(renter) to stay there? I just wanted to ask because if he gets evicted, and your'e paying rent to the landlord I don't see why he should kick you out if you're not participating in that activity.

Don't do that!

You've been more or less homeless in more than a few cities and appear to have an unusually strong opinion about your right to drink.

And sure, that's fine, but since this probably isn't your first rodeo, you already know you can't stay at the Salvation Army if you've been drinking.

I've deleted a lot of what I'd like to say to you. Go to a shelter. There are plenty of them. I know you will say no.

Or if actually want help, this place is good. Union Mission – Savannah, Georgia

Yes Ellie, I was just thinking -- there is PLENTY OF HELP AVAILABLE out there to those who need it. Problem is YOU MUST ASK FOR IT and most of us are too proud, too stubborn, of too unwilling to give up something else in our lives (like drugs or alcohol) to get the help.

I trust the OP is sincere and only seeks to find an alternative to his current situation, but choosing to BE HOMELESS AND LIVE ON THE STREETS IS NOT AN OPTION!!!! You've then become a burden on society, which is not fair to you OR us!

My take: He's not following ANY advise. Read his prior posts and "where he's coming from" and where he's been...so far.
Only my opinion and hope I'm wrong.

Anybody who asks "where's a good place to be homeless?" isnt playing with a full deck IMO. This situation reminds me of an acquaintance on FB who is too ill to work and needs medical attention and keeps begging for financial assistance from friends to "keep going" even though there are a multitude of social services available to help them. Some people would rather remain the victim than actually accept help.

Let's see how long it takes the OP to reply to any of our suggestions ...

I hear that under the bridge on Presidents St. is very popular for those who cannot, or will not, comply with the restrictions of the shelters.

You mean that place where police, ambulance, etc are constantly getting called to break up fights, mop up blood, haul bodies off to the ER and the morgue?
