Hello.

We originally posted this information in the sticky; however, it appears it should be in the general forum. We are a professional couple with a school aged child. We are relocating from Texas due to job transfer. We would like to live in a nice neighborhood with other professional families.

I will be working downtown and the wife is looking for an Pediatric RN position at Memorial. She has already applied on their website. Any help you can provide with her job search at Memorial is greatly appreciated.

We have provided the following information:

1. Budget- $1200-1700
2. House/Condo/Townhome- house (at least four bedrooms) prefer a sizeable backyard.
3. Employment Status- employed. Will be commuting downtown.
4. Children- Yes. Schools and after school care are important.
5. Suburban or Urban lifestyle preference or a mix of the two- Suburbs or mixed.
6. Easy access to public transit, important or not- would be nice, but not essential. We have cars.
7. Preferable demographics of desired neighborhood- young professionals (30-40 yr old working professionals)
8. Renting or buying- Renting. Looking to buy in the future, using GI Bill.

Interested in knowing about the "GI Bill". Seems to me that's a voice from the past. Give me an update on that.

Welcome to Savannah...we'll get to that in a minute.

BTW it's PINK CADDY."PINK CANDY" is my side kick. She's a pole dancer that is trying her best to find her place in Savannah's elite society. I'm trying my best to convince her that's not very hard to do.

Since your wife is interested in Memorial, let me suggest that you look for housing in two nearby subdivisions... Fairway Oaks and Habersham Woods. Start there, and then go else where if you need to. It would be a good place to live while you look for a house to buy.

That or 44th - 60 something streets between Bull St. and Waters Ave. That includes Ardsley Park, though it's a little more expensive. Parkside is also nice, but other that that specific neighborhood don't stray into the areas immediately north, east, or west of that corridor.

Get a map, draw a box along those lines and look there.

EDIT- scratch that. 4 bedrooms is unrealistic.

Three months ago my nephew got a 4 bedroom on 54th street (3 block off of Habersham) for $1700. Lovely block and his house is directly across the street from a school and ball field. I think...sweet deal.

Thanks for the replies. I will draw a box on a map and look into the neighborhoods you suggested.
How are the schools in these areas?
