Kinda like 'Inland News. Because their seems to be a lot of great neat events and news that may not get covered because Savannah has such a large coverage area. Maybe if we could get a News Station it could cover the Inland Areas: Bulloch, Candler, Evans, Screven, Jenkins, Emanuel, Tattnall, Toombs ect. And Savannah would have the coastal areas: Chatham, Liberty, Effingham, Bryan, Mcintosh, Beaufort, Hampton, Jasper ect

The Savannah stations cover the Statesboro area just fine. They all have reporters assigned to Statesboro, and WTOC's Dal Cannady lives and is based in Statesboro.

Besides, the Statesboro Herald's web site already does what you're asking for and they win national awards for it.

it's a shame that we can't have a poll that asks, "which would you rather listen to?"

Savannah's television market includes Beaufort, Bluffton and Hilton Head Island in South Carolina and Augusta's television market includes South Carolina's Aiken and Edgefield counties. Though they are based in Georgia, they do focus on major events in those areas.

Way back in the days when MTV still played music videos, Northland Cable did a 15-minute newscast on the public access channel at 5:30 every night. Dal Cannady was actually one of the anchors (I recall Greg Pallone was another). It was very bare-bones, but they did come up with enough stuff to fill up 15 minutes. Usually.

WTOC focuses pretty heavily on the more rural parts around Savannah. It's their MO. You have to be a pretty large and growing area to get your own DMA these days. The FCC isn't about to splinter markets that already cover 100% of the USA without a good reason.

Radio will cover whatever Savannah doesn't. I believe Savannah has all the major networks so justifying another station wouldn't be easy.

The Savannah stations are bad enough as it is... I cant imagine an even worse news station with a lower budget. Actually, we have a Northland Cable news station which is probably the saddest thing I have ever seen in my life - it rivals the herald's "Studio Statesboro" videos in level of quality and content. Such a news station would make the Albany tv stations look fancy.
