I don't know if this would be a good location for an apartment complex, considering the industrial uses that surround the proposed complex.

Ok, as someone who remembers the Powell-Duffryn fire and what a disaster it was, I'll admit this is the last place I'd ever consider leading an apartment. However, as the story states, it would appear that safety requirements since then have been greatly improved and I wonder what other good use this very valuable (and high-profile) piece of real estate could serve? I drove by there today, as I often do, and the stand of historic oak trees on the property are worth preserving. It would have been a horrible location for Costco -- I can't imagine why they ever seriously considered it.

Do I want to live there? Probably not. But the demand for quality rental housing so close to downtown is obviously high enough that somebody will.
