Looks like the City of Pooler is going to relocate the Caboose near Rogers street and Highway 80 West to a location on the old Central of Georgia railroad bed near Pooler Parkway and Highway 80.

I sort of care. They're creating some kind of park, not just a random switcheroo.

Newsboy; this is my second thread posted here since I registered in 2007. I don't care if you don't care. I read a lot of threads you start that I don't care about but Medient Studios Breaks Ground is my favorite. I care about that one. Be careful who you pick at.

I don't know. I just saw a short section of railroad track on the old railroad bed so I figured they plan to relocate the caboose. I am sure you will see it in the news eventually. I worked for the Central of GA railroad for 30 years and I notice things like that.

OK, let me rephrase my question: WHY should we care?

(Didn't mean to compare you to Albania ... )

The railroad through Pooler is part of Pooler's history. The caboose is a piece of obsolete railroad equipment to look at as a reminder of the very busy railroad that ran through the center of downtown Pooler. Why should you not care?

Oh okay. So... this is a hunch? Not discrediting you, just trying to get to the bottom of this. As you just mentioned above, the railroad represents Pooler's history and I would be baffled as to why they would move it... other than to shed light on how important their sprawling new developments are to the town. (I hope they aren't that tacky!)

A hunch? Yes. Why else would a section of railroad track suddenly appear on top of the old railroad bed? Years ago Pooler created an uproar when they moved the caboose from near the fountain across from Lovezolla's to its present location at Rogers St and Highway 80 West. I figure it is in the way of the new City Hall and Police HQ project construction or maybe they are going to put something else there and leave the caboose where it is. I am sure a call to city hall could tell you someone that would know what is going on.
