We've had close to a 50/50 white/black population split since slavery days.

AFGuy, really? you sound as if you were not aware of this. I thought it was already about 55-45. and had been for years.

Chatham has long been divided between blacks and whites, pretty much 45%/55%, with more whites in unincorporated Chatham, Pooler and Bloomingdale and more blacks within the city limits of Savannah. The only real change for the last 50 years has been an increase in Hispanics.

I always knew Chatham was 50/50, I just thought it was interesting to see how the Hispanic and Asian population have grown.

Absolutely No one knows what the Hispanic POP. is in Savannah. Send out as many census takers you want but unless you're in the loop.... ??

The Hispanic population in Chatham County is obviously WAY under counted. Anybody who lives here can see that. Also, I think the Asian population is greater than the Census indicates. There sure seems to be a lot more Asians around town that the numbers suggest. Of course, a lot of these may simply be SCAD students or tourists.
