While this may not seem like a big deal, it could potentially be in the future. I believe that such a designation could help bring more advanced manufacturing jobs to the area. Georgia Southern will also be a pretty nice company with universities such as University of Tennessee, Knoxville; Colorado School of Mines; Colorado State University; Iowa State University; Michigan State University; Mississippi State University; the National Renewable Energy Laboratory; Oak Ridge National Laboratory; Purdue University; The Ohio State University; University of Dayton Research Institute; University of Kentucky; University of Michigan; and Vanderbilt University being chosen as well.
