I am not very familiar with the players in Savannah, but I get the sense that there are many long time residents who, for what ever reason, are more content with the status quo than with change.
For those who are in the know, who should run for office?

OC Welch has a zeal and a love for this city that would serve him well as mayor. But since he's not a city resident, he cannot run. Murray Silver also has a love for this city that's evident, but no political or business experience worth anything.

I hear David Dewberry might be a good choice?

At this point, I'd even vote for a goat.

Well this town does have some characters and weird happenings. Reminds me of this story two weeks back. Classic Savannah. Police say Cheetos helped them catch goats roaming free in Savannah | savannahnow.com

But in all seriousness what we need is someone that can reduce crime, and increase education. Sure, family and parental supervision are where it starts, we need more afterschool programs, more workforce training, etc. We all know it takes a village, we need better community policing etc. But we need that someone who can actually get it done.

We sure don't need someone who blusters about being business friendly or jazz like that, and ends up only working on the little special interest things they are lobbied to do. Like, oh, all of our elected officials now! We need someone who cares, not in it for the money, like all of city council except the two At Large who are ok. Hm, DarkKnight for Council in 2025!

I would like to see some people who are accustomed to making decisions, based upon the facts in front of them. A business man or woman. I am disgusted with spending money on this study, and that study, and kicking the can down the road, with nothing ever getting done.
I would love a good old boy with the characteristics of a Chris Christie... Offensive, effective and decisive. Maybe southerners are, by definition, too incapable of being impolite?

Seriously, surely the dynamic folks at the Creative Coast could come up with some viable candidates?
