Sounds like the USPS is finally working on a plan to replace their outdated facility in Pooler. When my family moved to Pooler in 2000, there were plans in the works, but those were foiled by cutbacks after the 9/11 attacks.

U.S. Postal Service proposing relocation of Pooler Post Office | savannahnow.com

The article makes it sound like USPS is looking for more of a tenant built-out situation. A viable option may be the former Goodwill/Dollar General space in the Bi-Lo shopping center, which is not far from the current location. Here's the flyer for Bilo Center

We read the article hopefully, but it sounds like only hoop one of a hundred red tape hoops to come. See you at the Bloomingdales post office.

Actually, the old Goodwill store would be a decent option. It has plenty of parking, a loading dock, traffic light light, and it would be a good way to fill the vacancy. I think a couple of adjacent stores are vacant too.

SPEAKING OF POOLER ... what is that gigantic new building going up in the US 80 split in the downtown area, almost directly across from the WESTERN SIZZLIN'?

Are you referring to the new city hall?

I thought that's what it might be. Only saw it from the back. I only go to Pooler for the mall these days!

The smaller, adjacent building is the court house. It's going to be a nice boost to the old side of Pooler.

Our mailman told us the owner of the building where the Goodwill store was, had jacked up the rent so high that the deal will probably not go through.

Isn't the old Coastal Bank / YMCA / Red & White vacant now?
