I am considering renting an apartment in the area (E. Park Ave between Broad and Price). I have visited the area and didn't really know what to think of it. There seems to be a lot of renovation/gentrification going on and all the crime maps I've looked at don't show anything awful happening around there. Then again, I'm not from Savannah so I have to ask: how is the area? I understand that parts of Midtown/Downtown can get a bit rough, but is this a place that I'm going to be relatively safe (assuming all the regular precautions of course)?

It's just all sort of a mix. You'll have really nice next to not so nice just about everywhere in the extended downtown area (North of Victory).
