I'm not sure what Dick's is thinking building another store.

The Mall BLVD one doesn't even do high volume.

If I had to go buy sporting goods, and I had to drive to Savannah, I would prefer to go to BassPro. Since I live in Pooler, I would go to the Dicks here before I would drive to BassPro.

I think the location somewhat makes sense.

To be honest, I think a lot of consumers are shopping downtown, on the eastside, and in Pooler. The Southside, at least in my opinion, is beginning to have "this has seen better days" vibe.

Which is crazy considering that Mall BLVD shopping center just opened and is buzzing.

Dick's, Mega Kroger, Chipotle, Buffalo Wild Wings, now a Panda Express.

Really? Considering the new things around on the south side now, I would think the vibe is A-ok.

There are really no larger commercial property's available for rent on the Abercorn area in the Southside. Outside of the Savannah mall. This tells you the state of the economy.

But after spending time in the area house hunting, it's got a TON more to offer than where we are coming from. We actually preferred the south side. And to us, the drive up to Pooler isn't that awful either to shop there if we needed to. Apples to Oranges I guess.

At least your area has building going on, here in Dutchess County there is very little being built. Another strip mall with another bank(we have 14 within 2 miles). And another hotel. I've not seen new construction for a house in I can't tell you when, with the exception of a cluster -(900 homes/townhome/condos) of over price out of state builder who has a HOA-first one in our county.

ETA: I waited a half hour yesterday in the Walgreen's on Victory yesterday while I was having some prints made there. (Great service BTW and cheap). I was parked facing the entrance door. It's non-stop in and out traffic. Beer, soda, toys, etc just like a supermarket, hardware or $ store.

Southside vibe is great. Close to parks, lots of trees, cosmopolitan feel, more mixed use, has mass transit, although could use more walkability. More things like the Truman trail. It has almost every chain, it seems. Quite a nice variety. As far as being it built out, many might see that as a plus. No surprises, no further future congestion, can be seen as a plus right? Apples and oranges yes is a good way to put it.
