Looking to retire in coastal Geogia from Connecticut. Any comments on real estate, pros and cons of the area. We are looking for home about 30-60 minutes from the coast. Which cities/towns are the best. We are looking for homes up to $290.00. We prefer a home with some land - with no HOAs. Not too rural but far enough away from the hustle & bustle & traffic jams. Thank you everyone in advance. Any and all comments are appreciated.

Look outside along 95, there are several small towns which have what you are looking for. Land gets more expensive the closer you get to Savannah & Jacksonville. Be aware of the cost of living in Ga. vs. Northern FL vs. S. Carolina. So take that into consideration don't get tied into living in Fl.

Look on Zillow and post the results here we can give you some advice.

S. Carolina has a much better homestead exemption tax. You'll pay between 2 to 3k less in property taxes. Income is a wash. Sales tax a wash. Car s. Carolina is a little better.

Fl. Has no income tax, property is just about equal with ga. Better car tax and 6%!sales.

Look at Amelia Island, Nausau County Fl area, right at the Georgia border. Water is clear, rural area, not crowded
