I must say that from the renderings, this stadium will be quite a nice addition to Statesboro.

Team President Darin Van Tassell announced earlier this year the organization would explore the possibility of moving from the top amateur league in the United States, the Premier Development League, to the newly founded United Soccer League – Division 3. Van Tassell stated at the downtown event in Statesboro that the team needed to accomplish a few goals and make a few changes to make the move a possibility. The organization’s own stadium is one of the top goals.

Tormenta currently plays its home games at Erk Russell Athletic Park on the campus of Georgia Southern University.

The stadium site is planned for Old Register Road near The Clubhouse and would seat 5,000 people, with the possibility of expanding up to 10,000, according to USLD3.com.

It does! I have to admit that the Tormenta facility looks great and I hope they are able to raise the funds to build this arena.

This is gonna be great for Statesboro! But i have to admit that when i first about this idea in May i sorta dismissed it as just trying to throw an idea out and see if anyone hops on but boy was i wrong! After this is Statesboro where every plan have to be treated like ''i'll believe it when i see it''. So maybe now i can believe that GSU is ACTUALLY considering building a new arena to be built near Downtown to replace Hanner Fieldhouse. We Shall See. And by the way their are several new restaurants planned for the Blue Mile according to this past Tuesday's Newspaper. Can't wait for that to happen and can't wait for the actual Blue Mile Streetscape Project to Start. But anway this Tormenta Stadium news is HUGE!!!
