The Development Authority of Bryan County has announced that an e-commerce fulfillment center will locate in the 419,000-square-foot building being constructed at the Interstate Centre II industrial park in Black Creek. The project represents more than $19 million in investment in the community, and the company has committed to employ 50 people within five years.

VMInnovations, headquartered in Lincoln, Neb., will occupy the building to be constructed by NorthPoint Development of Kansas City. The DABC announced in June that it had sold 44 acres to NorthPoint for what at the time was deemed a “confidential client.”

Bryan County really is moving up to a whole new level. I hear from different people (Atlantans mostly) about their friends and relatives moving to Richmond Hill -- especially those with kids. The county schools are decent and stable. With new businesses opening now, it looks like RH is coming into its own. One more reason why metro Savannah will hit 400,000 people by 2020.

This particular facility will be on the north end of Bryan closer to Pembroke on 16.

OK, thanks. Isn't Pembroke jumpin' more these days, too? It was one sleepy cow town years ago.

I don't hear too much about Pembroke proper, but the Interstate centre where this facility will be built has been in the news pretty regularly over the past several years with new projects coming along. It's right there by the truck weighing station on 16. The next exit up from Old River Road in Effingham.

It's only a matter of time when those two exits become nodes for suburban development. I'm really surprised the River Road exit in Effingham hasn't already, since it's just 17 miles or so from DT Savannah.

It's zoned industrial on the north side of that exit and you will see something happen there in the next few years. The exit is also scheduled to be redone.. to my knowledge.
