does not sound like a trustable outfit, it will most certainly degrade the awesome Ebenezer. (if you have not paddled it check it out it's really unique). The city should hold strong and not cave in. Make em adhere to more serious standards or have them rail it out or just say no. All for two or three dozen jobs seems an unfortunate sacrifice, or at least not worth it for a shady company. A good one, ok. They have acted sketch, so far. The hearing is TONIGHT for all interested.

The Effingham County Twin Industrial Authorities (Merged into the present Effingham Industrial Development Authority (IDA) several decades ago) installed a elevated water tank with well and gave it to the City of Springfield to operate. The IDA gave the City the land to operate the sewage treatment plant and a spray field. The IDA may have built the sewage treatment plant and gave it to them too. The idea was to furnish Water and Sewer service to the Industrial Authority Park tenants because the city had qualified people to operate the systems. Springfield benefited by closing their outdated sewage treatment plant tying into the Industrial Park system. Springfied furnishes water and sewer service to new development and several County Schools on Ebeneezer Road, areas not in the City. They also treat sewage from the City of Guyton.

I believe Springfield City will vote to accept DRT's affluent from the new plant. At least there is a plant constructed you can see and not a invisible movie studio (Medient) that didn't create the promised 1000 jobs.

So the plant didn't get their permit, looks like $43 million is going to be standing on the sidelines for a little longer.

Great news! I've been out on the creek. It's worth protecting. It really is. So, they were adding a dozen or two dozen jobs. Not much to write home about. I think they made the right call. Counterclock, 'affluent' is about right. They thought they could treat the folks there like dumb south Georgians and streamroll over local folks. Guess not. Maybe they can now slow down, and do it right. Haul it by rail or dispose over land or something. But I wouldn't trust them, to monitor the release properly direct to the creek, there have already been chemicals discharged and the darn thing isn't even open yet! And that could even open Springfield up to liability for not 'treating' it if indeed there was a spill. It was up to the locals, and they spoke. Good on them.

Did you read the park of the plant letting gases vent and it smelled like rotten eggs around the plant. Good neighbors indeed.

Savannah/Chatham area had to get use to rotten egg odors from industry and sewage treatment facilities. What about the other big industry in Effingham with rotten egg odors generating ash waste storage pools. Effingham paved about 170 miles of dirt roads with some of this material decades ago and are a maintenance headache needing expensive extensive repair/replacement. Neither of the industries are going anywhere because they create jobs. Some more jobs will be created reworking Effingham's ashen roads.

this was a huge win for Springfield and well, everyone. I mean we'll be drinking water out of the Savannah downstream from this. Cypress are thousands of years old and a midnight 'accident' could change the place irreparably. The plant will still be there. They just have to dispose of the waste a much better way. I agree people have to get used to egg smell of sulfur. We live on the coast, part of the deal. Marsh and mills. But Springfield's council really stepped up in a big way for the residents and this was a huge win, to get the company to do business in a safer and better way, and it is a win for everyone. Sometimes you have to step up like this to maintain quality of life. The plant will still be there just the same, it just won't be dumping into the creek and the water treatment facility.

I wonder why DRT didn't get all the permits and agreements they needed to treat their waste before building the facility?
