Is Savannah a good place to spend a weekend in January with family or is too cold?
Does anyone have a neighborhood to recommend which is not to crowded of turists?
Thanks

January can be mild or cold...all in the same day. You’d be fine with a light jacket unless it is unseasonably cold. There will be some things in bloom on the squares.

The historic district is where you want to be to see the quintessential Savannah, but that is where all the other tourists are too.

If you want to drive in everyday, stay in midtown or near the airport and drive into the city.

Man, It's hit or miss at that time of year we really don't know what our weather will be like, it could be 75 degrees during the day & mild at night or 45 during the day and 30 at night....

Actually, I'm glad I looked for this information. Last Easter I went to Bermuda and I loved it. Good weather but a little chilly. I was all set to go again until this tread got me looking at the date. Easter is two weeks earlier this year raising the possibility of even cooler weather in Bermuda. Not going.

OP you just saved me a lot of money. LOL.

Many think of Bermuda as tropical. Not so. It's about 900 miles NE of the Bahamas.
Savannah is about 500 miles NW.

OP, just keep your eye on the 10-day forecast. Chances are that the weather in Savannah would be temperate, even in January.

This is really good info! I'm kinda surprised at how often it's in the 70s and even some 80s in January. Then I saw that stray 31° high one day out of those 9 years. I think that's the coldest high out of all those years. A few times it'll get down to the upper teens at night, too, but that's slightly less rare than seeing an 80° day in January.
