We're thinking of moving to savannah from South Florida... We were looking at some Town Houses there online and it seems like you get good quality for your $ there.. and pretty low HOA fee's. I work from home online so a job is not an issue for me.....

One thing I'm concerned about is crime rates.. Is it very high crime in Savannah or only certain "pockets".. I know its a very high tourist location right? So that might contribute to crime as well?

The areas around the town houses we saw looked very nice though... very well kept..

Not Pooler. Those are in Savannah. That area is safe, not a lot of crime out there. It is in the western edge of the county. I would suggest looking in the City of Pooler. City taxes are 3.089 mills versus 12.48 for Savannah. The area around Savannah Quarters has several townhome developments depending on budget and style. This area is very cut up and jagged boundaries. There isn't anything wrong with this area of Savannah but you can save some money on taxes by making sure you are actually in Pooler. The real estate agents will tell you it is Pooler and it isn't. The easiest way is to get the Property Identification Number (PIN) for the home. If it begins with a 5-1009H-01-008. The 5 identifies it as being within the City of Pooler.
