Am planning a trip there early next year and was considering March. Is it too chilly that time of the year?

That's the perfect month to visit. Temps should be in the 70s during the day, 50s at night. Savannah is busy in March due to the St. Patrick's Day parade, so bear that in mind.

If you're not visiting for St. Patrick's Day (3/17) festivities, then it might be advisable to plan for the beginning or the end of the month, since there won't be a hotel room to be had within a fifty-mile radius in the week of St. Pats. I'd find the week after to be preferable, since the dogwoods and azaleas will be close to full bloom (if not fully in bloom). It can't be understated just how much St. Patrick's Day takes hold of the city.

Also keep in mind the pollen will wreak havoc on your allergies that time of year.

Fall is the best time to visit. Like, November.

This! I agree with late March. Great weather usually.
