Went to the store...
Kroger's on Wilmington Island.
Was talking to one of my "Sisters".
Sister Patterson...A cashier, and a woman of "color".
We always do a hug when I'm in there.
She asked what I was doing for Christmas.
I said...
Nothing. Not much family. No real friends. I'll just be staying home with my critters.
Guess where I'm going for Christmas dinner?
Yup!
(One of my other "Sisters" is...
Brown Sugar. 'Cause she's always so sweet to me)

Took my dog for a run at...
Wilmington Park pier.
Met two "Brothers".
Had a long talk.
One is from California.
The other was from heah.
Been all over the country, and now is "back home".
A looong, and great, talk.
And now I have two new friends!

Life is good down heah.

Ps: I am whiter then white.
You hafta wear sunglasses just to look at me.

Pps:I am sure that there are some 'hoods that you don't wanna be in after dark down heah.
But ain't that the truth wherever your life may lead you?

And that was the best parts of my day!
The rest sucked, big time.

Nice, isn't it to live in an area that has just about everything...plus good people.

I told someone once that the only time that you really needed to leave the Islands is if and when you needed to be buried. There's no cemetery there. Funeral Home? Yes, but no place to bury the body. Well, legally anyway!

Al, it's hard to convince people that Savannah has much more to offer than just the historic area. Some wonderful people think it's great, but I have no urge to live there. I want a lawn and a big back yard and a driveway that I can park a car in.

And Al, it's good to know that you seem to have settled in. Hope that we still please you later. (and how do you like the Winter so far?)

"(and how do you like the Winter so far?) "

I'll let you know when it finally gets here...
Just saw LeRoy pedaling his bike past my house down JMB, from East to West.
With a fishing rod strapped to the rear fender.
4.1 miles from my house to the pier.
Or maybe he's headed for the ramp over on Turner Creek?
Either way, it's a nice morning for a ride.

Aside to Padgett: Does your hubby, or son, or...?
post on Coastal Outdoors?
In the fishing forums?
Just curious, is all.

Umm, Al. Calling someone LeRoy as a generic name for a black man is no longer considered polite.

I know you don't mean anything negative by it. It's just not nice.

LeRoy is a guy I met at The Islander last night.
He's a friend of Rudy, the owner.
And now he's a friend of mine.
And so is Marcus.
Both white.
Go figger.

Ps: You can stop blushing now.

I thought after your previous posts where you appeared to be using racial terms, that you'd continued to do so in this most recent one - unless you really met up with your brothers and sisters at the pier.

I know you mean all of these things kindly...as do I.

So I fell into a trap with your most recent post. I apologize.

Umm, Ellie. Assuming that a man pedaling a bike on JMB is a black man is no longer considered polite.

I know you don't mean anything negative by it. It's just not nice.

Since I've been down heah, I call everybody "Brother" and "Sister".
White, of color, whatever.
I use the terms as a show of respect/love for my fellow man/woman.
And the two "Brothers" that I met at the pier were indeed...of color.
I thought that was kinda assumed after the first part of my post.

And when was the last time you heard/read me use the word "black"?

Wasn't no trap.
I hope you didn't get hurt "falling in"?

/ramble

No, I'm fine. I make mistakes every day. Learning something new doesn't hurt.

Good...
That proves we're friends, don't it?
Speak your mind, and not get all po'd over what the other might say.

I try to learn one new thing every day.
Some days I do.
Some days not.

Peace and Love
Brother Al
