"...or Trader Joe's. I think I'd drive half an hour to get to one once in awhile."

I'd drive an hour once a week!
Dayum, I miss that store.

'Teeters folded down in Jacksonville a few years back (a larger area with a stronger economic base). Again, looking at the population size & economics of the area (made up mostly of low paying service/light industrial jobs), there is no reason for Trader Joe's or H-T to locate here. Rumor has it that H-T is positioning itself for an eventual sale, possibly to Publix.

On a positive note, there are two H-T's on Hilton Head.

I like H-T alright but it's not all that. Used to shop at one in Athens, GA. As far as driving to HHI for anything, seems I go years between visits there and I have no reason to go more frequently. Publix is fine.

Usta go to PUBLIX maybe twice a month.
Now that they have fresh Sushi @ Kroger's I don't go there much anymore.
PUBLIX is a nice up-scale kinda store, but Kroger's is more in my price range these days.

I just want to say if we can't have a whole foods or a store like it then publix or a fresh market would be ok. I personally prefer a whole foods store but publix is ok. Pooler does have up scale people who live out here as well as middleclass people so why can't we get a quality store I can't stand walmart and refuse to shop there I will drive 30 minutes to go to fresh market or publix. Come on people have you ever seen the gross things people do with produce in walmart ?They will open a bag of grapes and eat a handful and just leave the bag there without purchasing the grapes ( and there is still grapes in the bag.) I would like a quality store to shop in for friut and produce without having to worry about the quality of the friut and produce I am buying.

I agree. We were frustrated with the same thing while living in Pooler. We currently live in R. Hill, but not sure for how much longer. We miss Pooler! The grocery shopping was horrible. We don't shop at Walmart due to the mass insanity and other comments that I'll keep to myself....

But, we used to drive up to Rincon to shop at Kroger. Now, on Pooler Pkwy they are building a new shopping area (called Pooler Marketplace) before Cancun that will have a Publix. They have a sign up, etc. So, sometime in 2010, they should have one! Be patient, it's coming! Go check out the sign! Check out this link: Edens & Avant - Our Centers - Center Detail

And check this out!!! Shopping center anchored by Publix coming to Pooler | savannahnow.com

Ok, I want to move back! lol That's why we're leasing until we learn the area and where we want to plant roots!
