We are weeks away from having a baby and our previous doctor no longer takes our insurance, so we are now on a hunt for a new one. We would prefer one that has an office in either Rincon or Pooler (plenty share doctors with Savannah offices) since my husband and I visit those places daily.

Any recommendations would be appreciated!

Have you asked your present Ped. if he could suggest one? Sometimes, they are relutant to do so, but if he/she has some first hand information about qualification, love of children, etc, it's worth seeking his advice.

Your insurance carrier should be sending you a listing of the doctors that they accept. There may be only one or two in your area.

There are plenty in our area that will take our insurance...which is not making the search easier. And our current one will not recommend...we tried.

Hmmm, it's been so long since my kids were that age, that I wouldn't dare suggest someone.
However, I would prefer someone that is in a smaller group practice as to someone that is doing solo work or in a large group. The reason being, that he might just have better access to charts, etc, than the others in case your physician is not available.

If your luck is like mine was, kids will always need a doctor quickly at night and on weekends. The guy that takes call needs to be good too!

I would recommend Dr Amanda Hendricks. She has an office in Rincon. I previously had the pleasure of working with her.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I tried Dr. Shelley, as recommended on here a few times, but he is not taking new patients. We have decided to go with Dr. Steinfeldt at Savannah Pediatrics in Pooler from some other referrals we got. There are a few doctors at that practice that were recommended. There is one we know we don't like, but the others come recommended.

Thanks again for the suggestions!

Dr. Hobby. We have never had a better doctor. All of the doctor's in the practice that we have met are really nice.
