We are from NJ with 2 small children and are currently in a very low crime area.

If we relocate to GA, I would be working in Brunswick.

So far, based upon the statistics, Kingsland and Woodbine seem like they have lower crime.

We either of these areas be good to raise a family. I'm obviously more concerned about personal crime vs. property crime.

Are there other areas. These are relatively close to the FL border. Would living just across the FL border be that much different than living in FL?

If you live across the FL border, there's a tax benefit...Florida has no state tax. Just a suggestion

Brunswick has plenty of neighborhoods that are safe...you don't have to go as far as Kingsland or Woodbine to feel a sense of safety.
Most of the newer development in Brunswick is to be found north of 'The Spur' (the road that links Hwy 17 to I-95) and generally around the Harry Driggers Blvd. area. There are some older areas that are very nice as well (ie Belle Pointe and Country Club Park). The most problematic neighborhoods in Brunswick are those just north of downtown (the 'alphabet' streets) and those located off of Altama Ave.
There is also St Simons Island, located across the causeway. It's a lovely area, but considerably more expensive than the mainland.
There is also quite a bit of development out west of Brunswick heading west of I-95 into Brantley County (Nahunta area).
