The ice storm that basically shutdown DFW got be thinking about controlling weather. Of course weather could be used to prevent disasters. But, it would make an even better use as a weapon!

Just think if scientist figured out how to create ice storms. They could create ice storms over the enemy cities every week. This would completely grind the city to a halt and possibly cause blackouts. If city is near the cost, they could send huge typhoons or hurricane like one that is hitting Australia. The results would be disastrous on the enemy. While the aggressor wouldn't even need to send single troop into battle!

Just stick around CD for a few months...

You'll see posts talking about all types of secret weather weapons countries already have.

It's interesting that there is more interest in the "civilized" world in developing weather control as a weapon, rather than in using it to benefit people and improve the quality of life.

I read an article a while back stating that science already has a way to somewhat influence the path of hurricanes - this technique could, for instance, be used to divert hurricanes away from major cities. However the legal implications of it are huge - just thing of all the lawsuits from the rural areas that DO get hit by the hurricane with the altered course.

It wouldn't matter to me, as I'm too old for snow days!
On the other hand the weather is the only thing the government hasn't taxed. I'm sure Obama would like to appoint a "Weather Czar." He could control the weather and have a "sunshine tax" in the warmer states and a "snow tax" on the colder states. Of course he'd blame "Climate change" for those high taxes! Climate change = Climate charge!
Even though I'm kidding here, a "weather tax" really isn't far from being a reality, I'm already paying a "view tax" on my property taxes.

In 1947 dry ice was launched into a hurricane trying to redirect it. Silver iodide, liquid nitrogen, are a couple of the many things scientists have shot up into the clouds to control weather and, of course, if it's ever successful it will make a fantastic weapon. Weather has changed battlefields since Cain and Abel were fighting over top-bunk (not really). Anyway, a hurricane has the heat energy of detonating a 10-megaton nuke every 20 minutes (Hiroshima was bombed with a .02 megaton bomb). I think the human race will have to eventually concede that we're out of our league trying to alter weather and just try to prepare and react to it when it comes.

You know I personally think through science human will be capable do many things thought impossible EVENTUALLY. It might take 100 or even 1000 years to get there. Of course, there most likely be accidents along the way when experimenting around.

Well said! And this is true. However, with the accidents, wars, disease, and people generally trying to kill anyone who isn't exactly like themselves, I wish my tax dollars were better spent. I live near the coast and am aware that damaging weather happens sometimes. There is no perfect life, there's just life.

Just as with Congress, thinking it can control the economy, not everyone will be happy. And of course, the idea that government can successfully control the economy is delusional. Same with the weather.
